I FIND the article “Council backs climate strike” (SD, August 30) to be deeply disturbing. Mildura Council will support a global climate strike in Mildura next month, despite it potentially taking students away from school. 

Using their position as councillors of the district to promote or endorse their personal political ideologies is not what they were elected for. Global problems are a concern to all and not every person is in accord with the causes and solutions. I would be interested in the number of these concerned citizens that Cr Jason Modica wishes to support, how many concerned citizens approached Cr Modica.
