Racial abuse has no place in Sunraysia

Re: Racial abuse of Chinese trainee pilots (Sunraysia Daily, April 25):

Our first government school, the Wentworth National School opened in 1860. Its students largely came from families newly arrived in Australia. Captain John Egge, a Chinese merchant and paddle steamer owner, was so loved by Wentworth residents that he was given a gift of a gold ring inset with diamonds, and his steamers were cheered from bend to bend of the river during the Shearer’s Strike.

So let’s make welcome everyone who enriches our Sunraysia community regardless of colour of skin or country of origin.
