THE rain is beginning to fall in the northern Darling watershed but Queensland is refusing to follow NSW’s lead in stopping extractions of water for anything except stock, domestic and community needs until water flows into the Murray.
Queensland is not a signatory in any water sharing agreements and is looking after its interests as first priority. It is not concerned about the fact that before the Millennium Drought the Darling’s flow to the Murray met about 18 per cent of South Australia’s water share.
