District golf results

RED CLIFFS THE ladies played their 27 hole foursomes championship on Wednesday. 

The 34 ladies who contested the scratch and handicap events enjoyed great conditions. 

In the scratch division Sally Jones and Bobbie Ramsay blitzed the field to win by 10 shots from traditional rivals Deb Hassell and Di Morrall. 

Sue Poole and Noreen Smith combined beautifully to win the handicap section by five over Sally and Bobbie. 

Thank you to the sponsor of this prestigious board event. It is much appreciated. In the men’s Stableford competition the right handers played the lefties and after the averages were taken the lefties won by .8, 32 to 31.2. 

Nev Birch had 41 points and Rob Dean 37.

Saturday’s game was a medley aggregate Stableford with blind drawn partners.

Individual winners were Mal Goodieson on 43 points from Ben Tallent on 41 points and for the ladies Sheryl Blagus on 40 points from Helen Wood on 38 points.

Aggregate winners were Mal Goodieson and Kath Underwood on 76 points from Ben Tallent and Denise Morgan on 75 points.

Balls went to Steve Farley and Walter Graham, Craig Douglass and Judy Dean, Rohan Hillier and Sue Poole, Ken Woosnam and Di Morrall, Julie Warne and Graeme Duffy.

NTP were: Sue Poole and Al Rayner (third); Matt Forward (fifth); Matt Forward and Suzanne Johns (eighth); Mark Collett (ninth); Sheryl Blagus (12th);

Brad Morgan and Rita Chase (15th), Tom Minns and Sheryl Blagus, (18th) Neville Birch.

Congratulations to Michael Hogan who had an Eagle on the par five 14th on Wednesday and to Craig Douglass who Eagled the par five 16th on Saturday.

Coming up this week we have Stableford for both women and men on Wednesday, and on Saturday aggregate par for the men and par for the ladies.

COOMEALLA COMING up today is a men’s Stableford and women’s stroke round two of the championships.

Friday is a medley 12-hole Stableford for the president’s port.

Saturday is stroke for the championships third round, and the women have stroke for their third and final round.

On Sunday the men have their third and final round. Sunday is also a medley Stableford. Wednesday is men’s Stableford from noon.

Wednesday September 11, the men played stableford.

A Grade: First: Kane Brown 42 points.Runner-up: Jack Budd 37 points. Third: Ross Robertson 37 points.

B Grade: First: Neil Saunders 42 points. Runner-up: Russ Saunders 38 points. Third: Russ Collyer 38 points.

NTPs were: Ross Bowen (third, 390cms), Greg Chandler (seventh, 220cms), Kevin Polkinghorn (11th, 363cms), Ilker Deli (18th, 285cms).

The winner of the women’s Stableford was Joy Penny ahead of runner-up Jenny Smith. Ball competition went from 35 points to 33 points.

NTPs were: Nia Whittle (third, 80cms), Liz Stanbrook (seventh, 175cms), Suellen Nunan (11th, 55cms), Lee Bottomley (18th, 129cms). The winner of Friday’s medley Stableford was Nick Ciccarello, 19 points, ahead of runner-up, Peter Vandenburg,  on 18 point...
