FORMER South Mildura footballer Doug Cox, who died on November 30 aged 62, was involved in one of the most dramatic stories of the VFL in the early 1980s.

The pacy defender – who, according to the records, made one appearance for South Mildura in 1981 – played 36 games for St Kilda across 1981-82 after being recruited from South Australian club West Torrens.
