Greater stick-nest rat returns to the Mallee wild

THE Mallee Cliffs National Park, west of Mildura, has become home for a guinea pig-sized rodent that had previously been driven to extinction on mainland Australia.

The Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) recently released the second instalment of greater stick-nest rats into the 9500-hectare feral predator-free area, adding to the 40 that were released last September.
