THE recent global bee shortage has been a tough nut to crack but a Robinvale grower thinks there is hope for the almond industry in a new self-pollinating tree variety.

Owner of L&T Almonds Tim Millen said this new variety, named Carina, could be a saving grace for the industry and has urged almond growers to consider it.
