THE coronavirus pandemic has left hundreds of international backpackers -- some stranded, homeless and broke -- desperately searching for employment in Mildura.

Tight lockdown regulations, which have resulted in business closures, have forced many backpackers to flee capital cities after losing their jobs in food, service and hospitality industries.
