IRYMPLE South Primary School students are enjoying an addition to their playground, thanks to the school's generous cleaning team.

Principal Robyn Brooks said the kitchen was a hit with students of all ages.

"We got it all set up and the kids are having a ball," she said.

"It is amazing watching how many kids are playing with it … from the Grade 4 or 5 girls getting in and playing in the kitchen to the Prep boys with the trucks.

"It has certainly been the most popular play equipment this week, that's for sure."

The new addition comes courtesy of Ace Cleaning's Viv and Jon Whitchurch, who have been a much-loved presence at Irymple South for many years.

Ms Brooks said the school community was grateful.

"They've been here for a long time and they're brilliant," she said.

"It is very generous of them and it's really good idea as far as something that engages the kids and encourages outdoor play."

Mrs Whitchurch said it was the couple's way of giving back to the community.

"It's about the kids," she said.

"We've done school uniforms and donated to their concert under the stars and things like that.

"I wanted something left-field and something that the kids would benefit from."

Irymple South Primary isn't the only school in Sunraysia to benefit from the Whitchurch generosity, with Mildura Primary and Mildura West Primary schools also set to get new play equipment.

The couple also contributed to Cardross Primary School's recent makeover.

"It's not necessarily sand kitchens, it can be anything that's going to benefit the schools," Mrs Whitchurch said.

With their new sand kitchen now in place, Irymple South students are ready to make better mud pies than ever.
