THE Wentworth community is rallying around young families in an effort to raise funds for a much-needed childcare centre in the town.

There is no childcare service in Wentworth or the surrounding area, forcing parents to travel to centres in Mildura or rely on family for childcare.

The council has granted development approval for extensions to the Wentworth preschool building on Murray Street.
