Buronga Public School students go back to class

WEDNESDAY was the first day of school for students in western New South Wales, including siblings Harrison, 11, and Mackenzie Sobkowiak, 7, who were keen to get back into the swing of things at Buronga Public School.

It was an extra special day for Harrison, who is kicking off his year as the new school captain.

Harrison said it felt "pretty cool" to have been chosen as captain and he was looking forward to the added responsibility of the role in his final year of primary school.

"I'll get to lay a wreath on Anzac Day and help out a lot around school," he said.

At Buronga, the day was a good opportunity for existing students to catch up with school friends and enjoy some time in the playground, before kindergarten students start on Friday.
