Mildura mayor votes for immunity

MILDURA Mayor Jason Modica rolled up his sleeve on Friday, joining the thousands of Sunraysians arming themselves against COVID-19.

Shortly after getting his first Pfizer vaccine dose at MDAS, Cr Modica told Sunraysia Daily he was happy to do his bit to keep the Mildura community safe.

"I don't like needles, but I feel OK," he said.

"I think about what's happening in in western New South Wales at the moment with people who are more vulnerable than myself – elderly people and Indigenous people.

"It's important to think about getting the immunity level up for everybody."

Cr Modica encouraged more Sunraysia residents to book in for their jabs at one of the many vaccination providers in the region.

"Medicine is a fantastic thing and there's a great opportunity for people if they're comfortable with it to come out and have a vaccination," he said.

"We need to build towards a full vaccination so we can go about our lives in a better way."
