YOU could be forgiven for thinking it was Santa making an early start on Christmas.

But Mildura’s Sophie Lockett is convinced the object she saw through Monday night’s sky was one of an extra terrestrial kind.

“It was like a torch, but it was so direct and fanned out from a black bulb at the front of it. It looked like a lit-up megaphone,” Ms Lockett, 50, said.
