TWO men are dead after an ultralight plane crash near Wentworth this afternoon.

A NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) spokesman said emergency crews responded to reports of the incident at Hazeldell Station, near Ellerslie, on the Silver City Highway at 3.20pm.

Police said initial reports indicated the aircraft crashed just after take-off.
