THE hard work paid off for Rob Roelofs on Saturday.
The 19-year-old made his SFNL senior debut for Merbein in the club’s 53-point loss to Red Cliffs, kicking a goal and impressing the club’s coaching staff – particularly senior coach Jarrod Buckley.
In his first season out of the under 18s, Roelofs – originally from Healesville in the Yarra Valley – had been one of the Magpies’ best in the reserves and had certainly earned his call-up.
