WENTWORTH Shire Council is expected to use a countback method to fill a vacancy left following the death of respected councillor Tim Elstone.

A council spokesperson said the council passed a resolution at last year's October meeting regarding casual vacancies and, as such, council was required to act in line with that resolution.
