A STIFLING defensive effort in the third period allowed Mildura Heat's women's basketball side to claim a fourth consecutive victory.

Trailing the Craigieburn Eagles 33 to 37 at half-time at the Hothouse, the Heat held the visitors to just four points in the third period while scoring 18 themselves.
