For Mildura Writers Festival artistic director Donata Carrazza, owning a bookshop had been a dream for many years – but she never thought it would come true.

"Everybody goes 'oh, wouldn't it be lovely to own a cafe, or run a bar, or own a bookshop' – in a very vague, romanticised way ... not a very serious frame of mind," she said.
