A YEAR 12 student who admitted his part in an attack against a Mildura man who was repeatedly punched and hit with a baseball bat and piece of wood, causing "traumatic" injuries, has been released on probation.

A Children's Court heard an associate of the accused teenager met the victim in January this year and she attended at his house and there was an exchange of telephone numbers.
