THE region's current housing crisis is unlikely to ease anytime soon with Mildura Rural City Council acknowledging it does not have the capacity to fund critical infrastructure projects that would enable continued housing development across identified growth areas.

The council has set a draft housing target of 8000 additional dwellings to be delivered by 2051, but says it is unable to fund capital works to meet demand for at least a decade.
