Gift vouchers stolen from school event

MILDURA business owners have been warned to be wary of accepting gift vouchers after the theft of almost 100 gift cards this week.

The vouchers, which were to be used as part of Business Week activities for Mildura Senior College, were stolen from a conference room at the Quality Hotel Mildura Mildura between 4pm on Tuesday and 7am Wednesday after alleged offenders entered the room via a window.

Mildura police Detective Senior Constable Dylan Vertigan said police believed 91 of the cards had been distributed among members of the community who might attempt to use them in exchange for goods.

Sen. Constable Vertigan said among the cards taken were 39 City Heart vouchers, 40 Wallis Cinema tickets and 12 Mocha Mecca vouchers.

Two men, aged 27 and 30, have been arrested.

Businesses have been urged to be wary of anyone who presents cards, and contact Mildura police on 5018 5300 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 if they are approached.
