COUNCILLOR Jason Modica has been elected as Mildura Rural City Council's new Deputy Mayor after Mayor Liam Wood broke a voting deadlock.

On Thursday night during an online special council meeting, Cr Ian Arney and former mayor Cr Modica were nominated for the role, left vacant after the resignation of Cyndi Power.
