Mildura carjacking: Driver dragged from wheel at knifepoint

POLICE are searching for two men following a brazen attack on a driver who was dragged from his car by a knife-wielding offender.

Mildura crime investigation unit detectives said that about 3.30pm on Monday a man laid down on Seventh Street, near Walnut Avenue, forcing a driver to stop his car.

Once the victim stopped, a second man, armed with a knife, dragged the victim from behind the wheel and both men drove off.

The victim then called emergency services to the scene.

Detective Adam Brymer said the pair headed along Seventh Street in the stolen car, going through the roundabout near the George Chaffey Bridge towards Benetook Avenue.

"Given the time of day, location, and given it was in a busy part of town, it was a pretty brazen attack," Det. Brymer said.

"We're asking for assistance from the public, anyone who has dashcam footage or may have been in area or witnessed that incident, there's usually a lot of people around at that time.

"People in the vicinity of Seventh Street and Walnut Avenue may have seen or heard something but it may not have meant something at the time."

The car is described as a 2008 black Proton sedan, registration ZMK 149.
