Mildura cops brunt of record-smashing storm
MORE than 100 homes across Sunraysia were inundated by water overnight Wednesday as Mildura recorded its highest daily January rainfall on record, causing flash flooding.

A quarter of the city's yearly rainfall fell in a two-hour period from 9.30pm Wednesday keeping Mildura's State Emergency Service crews busy with calls for assistance until the early hours of Thursday morning.

The 80.2mm recorded at Mildura Airport far eclipsed the previous January record of 62.8mm on January 12, 2011, with damage caused by the weather event likened to the 2016 Remembrance Day storm.
