THE Wentworth to Broken Hill pipeline was a “half-billion-dollar gift to northern basin irrigators”, independent MP Justin Field said yesterday after releasing the final business case into the controversial project.
Mr Field said the business case showed the NSW Government had considered the interests of northern basin irrigators and mining proposals in the Broken Hill district in signing off on the pipeline.
Wentworth, Mildura, Central Darling and Broken Hill councils have long fought to have the business case for the $467 million, 270km pipeline released.
