THE Mallee electorate’s food, beverage and grocery manufacturing sector is worth $1.39 billion annually and employs more than 2300 people, new research has found.
The Australian Food and Grocery Council has found northern Victoria, encompassing the federal electorates of Mallee, Bendigo, Indi and Nicholls, contributes $9.23 billion a year.
Council chief executive Tanya Barden said the research showed the Mallee played a key role in making northern Victoria a “real powerhouse of food and grocery production in the nation”.
