LETTER: Local Labor calls for real action from minister

For the second time within seven months the Mildura branch of the Australian Labor Party has called on the Victorian Government to apply pressure on the Federal Government to hold a Royal Commission into the Murray-Darling Basin Plan that were exposed in the media during the past 18 months.

The plan does not need to be paused (as called for by the Shooters and Fishers Party). It needs to be overhauled and reformed in order to take into account the changes in average rainfall in the basin’s catchment area caused by climate change and global warming.

This week the branch sent a letter to state Water Minister Lisa Neville asking for serious action.

Robert Hillier,

Mildura and District branch of ALP secretary
