THE worst of this year’s horror flu season may not be over, with Mildura Base Hospital’s emergency department director Dan Turner warning Sunraysia residents to brace themselves for the possibility of a peak in coming weeks.

There have been a whopping 1437 reported cases of influenza in the Loddon-Mallee region this year – 15 times more than the 91 cases recorded from January to August last year and three times more than the total of 506 for 2018, when cases peaked from September onwards.

Normally, the flu season coincides with the winter months and stretches to September and October.
