POLICE say they are shocked by the number of motorists caught drug-driving in a weekend blitz targeting traffic offences.

The joint Victoria-NSW operation tested more than 2000 motorists on Friday and Saturday with 26 drivers nabbed for drug-driving and a further six drink-drivers.

The vast majority of offending was detected on the Victorian side of the border, with 25 motorists caught with drugs in their system to noon yesterday while five people were found over the prescribed concentration of alcohol.
