SUNRAYSIA football prodigy Phil Egan says being named captain of Sunraysia Daily’s Indigenous All-Star team of the modern era is one of the highlights of his career.
Egan’s unanimous selection as team leader was testament to his great footballing talent, which earned 125 games with Richmond throughout the 1980s and a sole match for Melbourne in 1991 to mark the end of his VFL journey.
The team, chosen by Sunraysia Daily football experts in conjunction with members of the Sunraysia indigenous community, comes on the eve of this weekend’s SFNL Indigenous Round of matches.
To qualify, team members must have played senior football and lived in Sunraysia.
