A SHORT campaign hampered efforts by the Liberal Party to win the federal seat of Mallee, according to Mildura branch president Russell Lamattina.
After returning from the Liberal state conference in Melbourne at the weekend, Mr Lamattina said there was agreement among Victorian members that the preselection process should put candidates in front of voters earlier.
Mallee candidate Serge Petrovich, a Portarlington-based barrister, was announced as the party’s pick just over 11 weeks out from this year’s poll.
