STUDENT safety has been made a “priority” in a controversial Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) appeal on Monday. 

The appeal followed a permit approval by Mildura Council for land opposite Irymple Primary School to be transformed into a five-lot subdivision, despite it contradicting the Fifteenth Street Special Use Precinct Plan.

VCAT backed the primary school’s concerns and ordered a 10m landscape buffer.
