SUNRAYSIA football export Matthew Knights would be an “outstanding” coach given a second chance at AFL level, according to Geelong AFL mentor Chris Scott.

Just over halfway through the regular AFL season and Carlton and North Melbourne are already on the hunt for a senior coach, with others expected to follow suit by season’s end, depending on future results.

Knights coached Essendon through a tumultuous 2008 to 2010 period before joining Geelong as VFL coach from 2012 to 2014 and has been the senior midfield coach at the Cats since 2015.
