Price hike to run licenced events in Victoria

COMMUNITY sporting clubs and groups will pay more to run licenced events and premises, with budget papers revealing the Victorian Government plans a 25 per cent hike in liquor licence revenue over the next four years.

At Public Accounts and Estimates Committee  on Tuesday night, Minister for Consumer Affairs, Gaming and Liquor Regulation Marlene Kairouz confirmed there was an increase in revenue from liquor licence fees under the Victorian Government.

“Despite the Minister’s efforts to obfuscate, budget revenue measures show that revenue from liquor licence fees will increase from $24 million this year to $30 million by 2022-23 with no indication that the number of liquor licenses will increase to explain the increase in revenue,” Victorian Nationals deputy leader Steph Ryan said.
