LETTER: Change the way elderly access the pension

Growing regions can be a stimulus to regions and the economy.

Make high-priced, city homes part of the asset test for the aged pension and ease the cost of the aged pension by having many self fund their lifestyle from the capital locked up in many city homes.

Australia has too many asset rich, cash poor people living on the aged pension. These people could live happier and wealthier lives if they embraced a change.

There should be incentives to downsize and make a regional shift from a city to self fund and not need the full aged pension.
