A RED CLIFFS man, who was caught drink driving at three times the legal limit, told police to “let him go” and not to worry about it.
Shannon Lee Jensen, 36, was pulled over by police in February while driving on Etiwanda Avenue and recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.151.
He was also found to be unlicensed and as a result, his car was impounded.
Mildura Magistrates’ Court was told Jensen was not remorseful for his actions and continued to ask police to let him go and not to worry about it.
Jensen’s counsel said Jensen had been at a party that evening and drank about 10 cans of beer.
However, when a friend had been threatened with violence, he made the decision to drive him from the party to prevent him from “getting stabbed in the face”.
Jensen was fined $1200 and lost his licence for 30 months.
