Drivers on country roads are being warned to slow down and think about their trips over the long weekend in Victoria as the road toll spikes.
So far 144 people have been killed on the state’s roads and more than half of those died on rural and regional roads, Police Minister Lisa Neville said.
“One of the real tragedies this year has been the rural road deaths, well over 50 per cent have been on our rural roads,” she said.
