LETTER: Sinking chance rests with captain of ship

Re: Federal election: No doubt everyone has their favourite theory why the conservatives won the recent election; my favourite is that the ALP chose to ignore the members in the leadership vote.

Despite Anthony Albanese getting a 60 per cent vote against Bill Shorten’s 40 per cent, the federal parliamentary party chose Shorten, even when he was consistently preforming poor in the polls.

When your full forward isn’t kicking goals don’t be surprised if you lose.

My advice to the party is to take the membership seriously and treat them with respect.
