LIBERAL Party candidate Serge Petrovich hasn’t conceded in Mallee, though he acknowledged it was a “remote” chance the distribution of preferences will hand him victory.

Nationals candidate Anne Webster yesterday remained the expected winner, but it could be some time before a final result is known.

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) was yesterday sticking with displaying a two-candidate preferred count between Dr Webster and Labor’s Carole Hart.

However, it's understood when the full distribution takes place it's far more likely that Mr Petrovich or an independent - either Jason Modica or Ray Kingston - will be in the final two.
