SMOKE drifting across areas of the Mallee this weekend should be no cause for alarm, according to the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP).
Planned burns were ignited at the southern end of Murray Sunset National Park yesterday and were well under way yesterday.
The burns aim to reduce the spread and intensity of any future bushfires, making it easier for firefighters to contain them before they affect people, property and the environment.
