LETTER: Mildura stands tall with compassion

Recently myself, my sister and her partner journeyed to Mildura for a one-night stop on our Oodnadatta Track trip.

We packed up on Saturday, May 5, heading into town to stock up on supplies. We were about to enter Woolworths when my sister’s partner Brent received tragic news of his two sons being involved in a car accident near Phillip Island.

His 16-year-old son died at the scene and his 18-year-old son was taken to Melbourne in a critical condition.

As you can understand it was a very traumatic time for us.

On behalf of all of us, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for all the offers of help and assistance we received.

The people of Mildura were truly amazing.

Firstly I would dearly like to thank Jenny from Forty Winks. Jenny helped me to organise a charter flight to get them back to Melbourne.

I also can’t thank Gary at Apex Caravan Park enough. He was fantastic with support as we had to leave cars and campers at the park.

There were many other offers of support from people on the street that day. I would like to take this

opportunity to thank all of them.

Thank you Mildura.
