LETTER: Heritage first when upgrading Mildura

Perhaps part of the plan for the CBD upgrade could be to bring back verandahs and not demolish more of Mildura’s heritage – as was done when the concrete mall was established.

Other rural cities maintain buildings and facades that allow them to retain their beauty.

The mall echoes with an emptiness not known when people gathered at lovely shops under the shade of verandahs.

Designers of the mall may have had good intentions perhaps like those who demolished the historic Ozone theatre. But Mildura lost unique structures in the process. And then there is the loss of the train.
