Lloyd Collier and Louis Snellgrove are about to break a world record for the fastest cycling circumnavigation of the globe by a tandem.

Two Townsville doctors who are just days away from breaking a Guinness world record parked their tandem bicycle and tired legs in Mildura yesterday.

Lloyd Collier and Louis Snellgrove have spent 281 days cycling on a global mission to raise money for the Brain Foundation and spinal research, having been robbed at knifepoint and encountering a huge brown bear up close along the way.

They are on track to set the record for fastest circumnavigation of the globe by tandem bicycle, needing to clock a minimum of 29,000km, as they embark on the final leg of their journey to Adelaide.
