PREPARATIONS are under way for this month’s celebration of all things Mildura.

Considered the city’s most important historical occasion, this year’s Mildura Day on May 31 will also be extra special by coinciding with 50 years of friendship with sister city Upland, California.

Mildura Day marks the day Mildura became Australia’s first irrigation colony after being founded by Americans George and William Benjamin (WB) Chaffey.
