Mallee ­Regional Innovation Centre: Aiming at links for better business

A LOCAL horticulture and commun­ity ­leader has been appointed head of the Mallee ­Regional Innovation Centre (MRIC), a ­research and development institute to be launched next month.

A joint venture by La Trobe University and the University of Melbourne, MRIC aims to become a key player in research and innovation in the region’s key sectors of horticulture, environment, energy and water.

Merbein-raised Rebecca Wells, who will step into her role early next month, said collaboration between businesses and ­industries would be a key component of the centre’s success.
