Federal election: Incentive fix needed for Mallee doctor shortage

ACCESS to rural health services – and in particular doctors – is an issue independent Mallee candidate Ray Kingston says has been a constant talking point in communities throughout the electorate.

And it is something the Rural Doctors Association of Australia (RDAA) made an election campaign issue last week, urging the major parties to continue to “think big” on strategies to deliver a future rural health workforce for Australia.

Mr Kingston, who was in Mildura and attended a candidates’ forum, said there was no “magic bullet” solution to a problem that had been looming for 20 years.
