Federal election: 'No deal' with Liberals for Mallee, Labor candidate says

LABOR candidate Carole Hart ruled out yesterday any preference deal with the Liberal Party in Mallee at the federal election.

It was rumoured the Liberals could seek a preference deal with either Labor or the Greens in the seat of Melbourne in return for vote-swapping in Indi and Mallee.

“I can categorically say we won’t be doing any deals with the Liberals in Mallee,” Ms Hart said yesterday.

Labor will, however, preference One Nation last in Mallee if it runs a candidate. Ms Hart said she would not be making any decision on preferences until it was known exactly who and how many candidates were contesting the seat.
