THE Greens’ newly announced federal candidate for the Mallee has shut down reports of a rumoured preference deal between the Liberals and either Labor or the Greens in the seat of Melbourne in return for vote swaps in Indi and Mallee.
Nicole Rowan, who represented the Greens for northern Victoria at November’s state election, was revealed as the party’s Mallee candidate at the weekend.
Yesterday she described the preference deal as an “unfounded rumour”, saying the Greens’ policies were “too far apart” from the Coalition’s.
