Dirty deals: Major parties likely to swap preference favours

A RUMOURED preference deal that could all but shut out any hope of independents winning Mallee at the Federal election has been slammed as cynical.

It has been mooted the Liberals could seek a preference deal with either Labor or the Greens in the seat of Melbourne in return for vote-swapping in Indi and Mallee.

If Labor candidate Carole Hart’s preferences went to Liberal candidate Serge Petrovich in Mallee, it would be a crushing blow to the hopes particularly of independents like Jason Modica, Ray Kingston and Cecilia Moar.
