Stop work order ‘ignored’: Coomealla residents complain over nearby grape crushing plant

A Coomealla resident says an illegally-operating grape crushing plant is a danger for nearby residents.

A Coomealla resident says an illegally-operating grape crushing plant is a danger for nearby residents.

A RESIDENT near the site of a Coomealla crushing plant and winery has been left frustrated by what she claims is a repeated violation of a Wentworth Shire Council order served to the site’s owner.

During a February meeting, the council refused to grant a development application requested to change the use of a farm shed on the Jindalee Road site into a crushing plant/winery and to construct a new office.

The council also served an order to cease operations after grape crushing and juice storage equipment was installed at the site last year without the council’s permission.
